This easy to make homemade blue cheese dressing will have you ditching the store-bought bottles! Extra creamy and flavorful, this dressing comes together with simple ingredients.

The perfect companion to chicken wings, pizza, salads and more.

Ingredients & Substitutions

Ingredients needed to make homemade blue cheese dressing.
  • Blue Cheese: Fresh crumbled blue cheese will give the best flavoring.
  • Mayonnaise: Use your favorite brand, choosing egg-free or avocado oil if you want.
  • Sour Cream: Substitute with plain greek yogurt.
  • Buttermilk: This gives a nice tanginess to the dressing. If you don’t have any on hand you can make your own buttermilk by adding vinegar or lemon juice to regular milk.

How to Make Blue Cheese Dressing

  1. In a food processor add all of the ingredients.
  2. Pulse for about 10 seconds until smooth and creamy. Add additional blue cheese crumbles as desired to make the dressing chunky, or to increase the blue cheese flavoring.

Serving

This Blue Cheese dressing is a favorite in our household. We use it on salads, especially this Classic Wedge Salad. For dipping with pizza (especially on this Pulled Pork Pizza), chicken wings, veggies.

Storage

Store this easy homemade dressing in the refrigerator in a sealed jar or container for up to 7 days. Make a double batch to keep some on hand to serve throughout the week!

I have made this recipe many times!!!  My family loves it, and it is definitely a “go to” recipe!  I have found a wonderful blue cheese perfect for this recipe and other recipes as well.  It is St. Agur and it is wonderful.  It is soft and creamy.  Mild, but a bit tangy at the same time.  Try it and I am sure you won’t be sorry!
