What I love About this Chick Fil A Sauce
- Quick: With simple pantry ingredients and 5 minutes of time this sauce is fast to whip together at the last minute.
- Budget Friendly: We can get the same taste without having to spend money on take out. Our kids are big fans of our homemade chick fil a nuggets also!
- Adaptable: Since we’re making a homemade sauce, this allows us to customize and make it more to our liking, or make a larger batch to ensure we don’t run out.
Ingredients:
Notes on some ingredients:
- Honey: this adds a hint of sweetness, the color of your honey will determine the coloring of your sauce.
- Dijon/Yellow Mustard: both are used in this recipe.
- Lemon: can be substituted with apple cider vinegar.
- BBQ Sauce: use your favorite, a great option is Sweet Baby Rays.
How to make (step-by-step):
- Step 1: combine the ingredients, add all ingredients to a bowl and stir or whisk together until well combined.
- Step 2: chill, let the sauce rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using.
Expert Tips:
- Don’t grab a flavored, extra sweet BBQ sauce. Go with an Original flavor/style. This allows you to control the sweetness with the honey in the recipe.
- Make a double batch so that you can keep some leftovers in the fridge.
- If you want a smokier flavor try adding a drop of some liquid smoke in the recipe.
Storage Information
Keep in the refrigerator in a sealed container for 3-4 days. Whisk back together if needed before serving.

Wow really nice! I’m so happy I can have chick fil a on sundays now
Yay!!!
Thank you thank you thank you! I lived in alabama for 25 years and recently moved to the Pacific Northwest. Never thought I’d miss fast food but cfa was the exception!
Amazing! I am eating this with tater tots as I write this…10/10 would make again.
What kind of mayonnaise do you use? Thank you
I use whatever kind I have on hand! Typically just regular Kraft mayo. Any mayo you prefer will work though ๐
I LOVE chick fil a sauce and sadly this is not eve close to it. I guess I’ll have to keep experimenting.
Where did you get those waffle fries??
Hi Christin! Don’t those fries look amazing?! I always get the Alexia Foods brand of fries.
Just followed the recipe to a ‘t’ and this is NOTHING like the real chick-fil-a sauce. Not sure what everyone else is tasting but this is NO WHERE NEAR the awesomeness from chick-fil-a. Very disappointed.
Delicious! I followed your recipe exactly and the flavor was spot-on! I used a “smokey” bbq sauce from trader joe’s. The consistency and color were different, it was a little runny, but neither of those bothered me! Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed Molly! Thanks so much ๐
Wow! I will def. have to try this recipe! Thanks so much! Have you tried making the Creamy Salsa dressing (from Chick-fil-A) at all?
Hope you enjoy the sauce! And I haven’t made a creamy salsa dressing yet. I actually have that on my list of things to make soon though! Be on the lookout in January sometime ๐
Omg, if you figure that out, I’ll be in heaven.
Love that stuff.
This is great! I did add a dash of Worcestershire sauce and I also doubled the mayo.
Then, it was absolutely perfect!
My kids love it!
I’m so glad! Thanks for sharing Melissa!
