Crave-worthy Caramel Apple Crisp
You know that moment when the air turns crisp, and you can practically smell fall on the breeze? That’s when I start craving all things cozy, and nothing says cozy quite like a warm, bubbly Caramel Apple Crisp.
This dessert is everything I love about Fall wrapped up in one dish: sweet, tender apples, a golden, buttery crumble, and a drizzle of caramel that takes it over the top. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you want to grab a spoon, a big blanket, and settle in for the evening. Trust me, once you’ve had a bite, you’ll be making this all season long—especially when the kids catch that caramel scent coming from the kitchen!

Let’s Make A Caramel Apple Crisp
- To start let’s prepare the apples. I do this the same way I do when I make an apple pie, which is the way that my mother taught me, peel the apples and slice them thinly. We should have about 2 cups of apples when we’re done.
- Toss the apple slices in the brown sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and just a pinch of salt. Set this aside. To save dishes this part can be done directly in your baking dish.
- In a small bowl pour the flour, rolled oats, light brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. Cut the butter into small tablespoon size pieces and add to the bowl. Using a fork, or two butter knives cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it starts to clump and look like a crumble.
- Top the apple mixture with a drizzle of the caramel topping. Spoon the crisp topping on.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is a golden brown. Once removed from oven allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Drizzle with extra caramel sauce to your hearts content.

Tips for the BEST Crisp
- Granny Smith Apples: These are my go-to apple when baking, they have a nice tart flavoring and they keep their texture and shape during baking so we’re not left with applesauce.
- Prep Ahead: Want to make this dessert for hosting? Prep the apples and assemble, then instead of baking wrap it tight and store in the refrigerator. Preheat the oven and set the dish out to warm to room temperature and bake when ready.
- Salt: Add a sprinkling of flaky sea salt to give a salted caramel experience.
