Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Tex Mex
Servings: 4
- 1 pound carne asada
- 1 lb bag frozen French fries
- 1½ cup cheddar cheese grated
Toppings
- ⅓ cup guacamole
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons sliced pickled jalapeños
- ⅓ cup pico de gallo
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro diced
Make the carne asada according to the recipe included. Prepare and marinate the meat ahead of time so the meat can grill while the fries are baking.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F or to heat according to directions on the French fries.
Line a large baking tray with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet and spread the fries out into a single layer.
Bake the fries for 25-30 minutes or according to directions on the package, tossing the fries halfway through baking.
Sprinkle the cheese on top of the fries and continue to bake an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Top the fries with diced carne asada, scoops of guacamole and sour cream, fresh pico de Gallo, sliced jalapeños and diced cilantro.
- Short-Cut Options: Save some time and use store-bought guacamole and pico de gallo.
- Carne Asada: Use our recipe for Homemade Carne Asada. Or if you have a carniceria (Mexican meat market) near you, then grab some already marinated or prepared carne asada to grill up at home.
- Lighter Swaps: Switch out the sour cream for greek yogurt if desired. Or swap out the fries for a sweet potato version
