Ingredients

Burger Meat

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup yellow onion minced
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Sliders

  • 24 pack Hawaiian Rolls
  • sliced dill pickles
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Burger Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup sweet relish
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar or fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Spray a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking apart the meat while cooking.
  • While the meat is cooking, add in the minced onion.
  • Once ground beef is cooked and browned, no longer pink, drain any excess grease and remove from heat.
  • Add the salt, pepper and garlic powder to the meat, stir to combine.
  • Stir in the mayonnaise and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Slice the hawaiian rolls in half, making a top and bottom bun.
  • Lay the bottom of the buns in the prepared baking pan.
  • Layer the ground beef, sliced cheese and pickles onto the bottom half of the buns. Drizzle with burger sauce.
  • Place the top bun on.
  • Brush the top of the buns with the melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the top buns are golden and cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Ground beef: use a lean ground beef or be sure to drain off the excess grease when cooking the meat to avoid creating soggy bread.
  • Cheese: the recipe calls for cheddar, of course you can use whichever cheese you would prefer.
Storage:
  • Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: these can be reheated in the microwave or in the oven. To reheat in the oven bake at 350 degrees F for 5-7 minutes covered with foil, then remove the foil and continue baking until cheese is melted and meat is warmed through. (the foil will help prevent burning the buns while the meat warms back up.
Make Ahead:
  • Prepare the sliders according to the recipe, instead of baking, cover and store until needed. Add several minutes to bake time to ensure meat is warmed thoroughly. Cover with foil if needed to prevent burning the buns.
