School Lunch Ideas:
The start of the school year is always exciting! One of my kids’ favorite things is planning their outfits to wear and making/planning their lunches. The older kids make their lunches, but I’m on lunch duty for the little ones. And my little ones are not fans of regular sandwiches. Which means that sometimes a little creativity is needed.
Sandwich Kabob: My little ones are masters at deconstructing their sandwiches and eating them piece by piece. So, I figure I can help them out with that and have it all on a stick. Then I can send them with a little cup of some avocado ranch dressing for dipping and they are happy as can be! Peanut Butter and Jelly Flowers: My kids also have a love for classic peanut butter and jelly. But my little girl always loves it when things are dressed up just a little extra. Using a fun cookie cutter is all it takes to make her over the top excited about this classic.
I used the same flower cutters (affiliate link) I use when making mini pie crusts. It comes with a variety of sizes, so a larger one for the sandwich and then the small one to make the strawberry flower in the middle.
Once the main part of the lunch is done then we can add the fun snacks. Some of my kid’s favorites include:
Fruits: grapes, apple slices, strawberries, banana
Veggies: carrot sticks, cucumbers, mini peppers

- 1 slice whole wheat bread
- 4 slices turkey deli meat
- 2 pieces Borden® Cheese Snack Bars in Mild Cheddar
- 4 grape tomatoes
- 1 green lettuce leaf
- Slice the bread into small squares, about 1 inch by 1 inch. Cut the Borden® Cheese Snack Bars in half.
- Use a skewer (about 6 inches long) and layer the bread, Borden® Cheese, Turkey meat, lettuce, and tomato. Then do another layer of bread, Borden® Cheese, turkey meat, lettuce, and tomato.
- You can always snip the sharp tip off the skewer if needed. Just use a sharp pair of kitchen shears.
