This easy to make caramel apple crisp is the perfect combination of tart apples with an irresistible brown sugar crisp topping.
I love apples. Apples in dessert? Genius. These green Granny Smith apples are perfect for baking with. That tart flavor pairs perfectly with the brown sugars and cinnamon in this recipe. I’m in love with this Caramel Apple Crisp. I think it may just be my soul mate. I used an apple pie filling recipe that my mom gave me many years ago. Then topped it with a thoroughly, delightful brown sugar oatmeal crisp. And of course, there’s caramel.

That is my excited squeal. In case you’re wondering.
What would you make with an apple? I went with this apple crisp for pure nostalgia. The apple pie filling that I made reminds me of growing up. Like I said before, the recipe is from my mom. Growing up we had an apple tree in the backyard. So she was always baking something with all the apples that we collected. Just the smell of baking apples with cinnamon makes me feel young again.
This is of course a dish best served warm. With warm oozing caramel. Not hot caramel mind you. That will burn your tongue. Trust me. I just used an ice cream caramel topping. At room temperature it’s perfect to drizzle all over anything you could possibly imagine. Plus warm apple crisp topped with cold dreamy vanilla ice cream. Perfection. This dish reminds me that there IS good in this world. And if you want to see something else that will remind you of all the good in this world, check out the new Black Stainless Steel collection at kitchenaid.com/bold. Oh my.
